THE ”CRAZY BREAD” PROJECT NOFIMA have together with Ogle Noor and DesignHub*Norway explored new innovative concepts built on the traditional Scandinavian crisp bread, known as “Knekkebrød”. Crisp bread is recognized as a low tech product. The designer’s mission was to turn this everyday product into a more user-friendly experience. The designers took the challenge, and inspired by rocket science, the bread was given new properties representing the future of food. Existing crisp bread breaks into parts which is difficult to control, spilling jam and spread. Making use of engineering principles, the designers constructed crisp bread which is easy to eat. This is done by controlling where the crisp bread should part and other properties such as the sound when eating. This project was presented at an event for the cereal industry in Norway where market leaders from cereal mills and bakeries participated for a day of innovative thinking. |
